JERRY KIND
Nov 30, 1988      כ"א כסלו תשמ"ט

Jerry (Geza) Kind was born in 1919 in Moisei, Romania to parents Issac and Louisa. Jerry, the oldest of three sons, grew up in an affluent family that owned a lumber milling business. Jerry lived a happy existence—there are funny stories of his early exploits-- until 1940 when the Hungarians took control of western Romania. In 1943 Jerry became a prisoner of the Hungarian Army performing a variety of menial tasks. It is believed that Jerry’s parents and youngest brother were murdered in 1944 at Auschwitz-Birkenau. Jerry was liberated by the Russians at the end of WW2 in April 1945.

Jerry met Margaret Noiman after liberation in Romania and they were married in December 1945. The Couple immigrated to the USA in 1949 with their son Jack. With no money, career  skills or English language the family began their American journey.  Ultimately, Jerry became a carpenter and then a home builder in Westchester County, NY.

Jerry lived with his wife Margaret and three sons (Jack, Eddy and Peter) initially in the Bronx, and in 1964 moved to Westchester. Jerry maintained a close relationship with family and friends that survived the war. He was a proud Zionist. Jerry was survived by Margaret, his three sons, 6 grandchildren and brother Shani ( who emigrated to Israel).
